Successful Deployment of M6 Data Buoy03 May 2016
Breaking free from its mooring in the winter of 2015, buoy M6 of the Irish Weather Buoy Network was successfully deployed by the crew of P&O Maritime’s Celtic Explorer for the Marine Institute.
Located west of the Aran Islands, Buoy M6 alongside four other buoys feeds data to National Weather Service, Met Eireann, providing bulletins, weather forecasts and gale and swell warnings.
With technical operation performed by OSS Department, mooring preparation was supervised by John Barry, and logistics, Tom O Leary.
Marine Institute’s online blog (http://scientistsatsea.blogspot.com.au/) provides daily updates of the scientific activities conducted onboard.
