Topaz wins silver at RoSPA
23 June 2010Topaz Marine MENA, a first time nominee, has won a coveted RoSPA Silver Award for 2010. The award ceremony was attended by 3,000 people and took place over three days at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, at the National Exhibition Centre.
RoSPA, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, is a registered charity with a core focus on accident prevention in the UK and the rest of the world. Founded in 1917, RoSPA has a long history of successful campaigning on issues which have the potential to save lives and reduce injuries in a broad range of industries. The RoSPA Awards promote good health and safety as a fundamental part of good business.
Topaz’s commitment to safety permeates all levels of the organisation, and the company always strives for an incident-free workplace through an uncompromising approach to safety. A systematic training and empowerment program ensures that all staff actively participates in the development of ongoing improvements to an already well-established safety system. In 2009 the Topaz Marine division reported zero Lost Time Incidents (LTI) as a result of the focus in this area.
In November 2009, Topaz Marine MENA was also awarded the Lloyd’s List ‘Safety at Sea’ award for the Middle East and India region.
